Less noise, just functionality

What is Notion?

In case you are not familiar with the Notion software platform (notion.so), it started as a browser-based note-taking and wiki platform, but soon it evolved into a multipurpose, incredibly flexible platform and attracted a lot of users with its generous free plan.

Notion is:

“A software platform that provides a suite of features, including notes, wikis, tasks, databases, and more. It recently added AI capabilities, such as summarizing, finding action items, translating, writing drafts, fixing spelling and grammar, and translating content,”

explained by Notion AI itself, very much in the style of ChatGPT. There are loads of Notion extensions for specific applications, for instance, “Super” for converting a Notion document into a website.

In my case, after dabbling with Notion out of curiosity, it replaced other software packages in my blog writing pipeline. Previously I used Trello for managing my tasks; then, I figured out how to use Notion to manage them in a Kanban view, exactly as I did in Trello. Not only that, but I also integrated into Notion the draft writing phase –which I previously did on Google docs– and the notes and references to help me with the writing. Long story short, Notion became my one-stop solution for everything related to my blog writing activity.

If you haven’t used it, run to your computer or cellphone immediately and try it!

Enter Notion AI

What I explained above should be called “What was Notion” because now it is (at least for us who received the “You’re off the waitlist!” email) a much more sophisticated product that integrates nothing less than true AI writing capabilities.

I know, I know. Nowadays, when you see something like “now enhanced with AI,” you roll your eyes and sigh, waiting to see yet another story about the “amazing-capabilities-of-AI.” But in the case of Notion AI, what I see is a rather understated, entirely practical proposal, not a bombastic promise of magic fireworks.
