You know, in the 70s (yes, I'm not young anymore), there was a joke among IT consultants: "IT is now everywhere, except in the productivity improvement charts!"

That was because IT wasn't mature enough.

The expectation that just adding AI to the mix will bring big productivity improvements is ridiculous and simplistic, and Will takes on this easy target.

But once AI is materialized in specialized AI products carefully designed to make people productive in specific settings, then and only then will productivity skyrocket. I'd bet my money on this (assuming there is a way of settling the bet).
